Additional Information:This house is built from plans by George and Charles Palliser. The building was published as Design 28, and was illustrated as plate 18 in Palliser's American Architecture, published in 1888. Identified by Craig Bobby.

A THREE STORY TOWER CAPPED BY A PYRAMID ROOF, VISIBLE FRAMING (OR "STICK WORK"), AND DISTINCTIVE GABLE ORNAMENTS CHARACTERIZE THIS STICK STYLE RESIDENCE. OTHER FEATURES OF THIS ONE AND A HALF STORY BUILDING INCLUDE AN IRREGULAR SHAPED PLAN, A MULTI-GABLE ROOF, GABLE STRUTS, AND ALUMINUM WINDOWS. THE STRUCTURE WAS FOUND TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE DATE OF CONSTRUCTION IS 1882-1883.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
THE BUILDING WAS BUILT IN 1882-1883 FOR A. H. BARBER, WHO A FEW YEARS LATER SOLD IT TO H.A.W. McNAIR, ABOUT WHOM NOTHING IS KNOWN.

THIS HOUSE IS ALSO KNOWN AS 249 N. JEFFERSON ST.
