NOTES
Additional Information:1847 HOUSE, 1854 STORE. A TWO-STORY BRICK COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE THAT IS COMPOSED OF TWO BUILDINGS UNITED VISUALLY BY SIMILAR CORNICES. A FULL LENGTH STONE LINTEL ACROSS THE FACADE AND FLAT STONE LINTELS OVER THE SIX OVER SIX WINDOWS ACCENT THE FRONT FACADE. PILASTERS FRAME THE FRONT DOOR WHILE SIDELIGHTS FRAME THE SIDE DOOR. THE STRUCTURE TO THE LEFT WITH A LOW SLOPING ROOF HAS A SHED ADDITION AT THE REAR. AT ONE TIME, A TWO LEVEL PORCH OVER THE SIDEWALK EXTENDED FROM THE FRONT FACADE. (C) THIS BUILDING IS ARCHITECTRUALLY SIGNIFICANT BECAUSE IT IS THE EARLIEST SURVIVING BRICK ARCHITECTURE IN THE VILLAGE OF HAZEL GREEN. HOWEVER, THE LACK OF MAINTENANCE AND USE HAS DIMINISHED ITS SIGNIFICANCE. E. SIMISON OWNED THE BUILDING AND USED IT AS A RESIDENCE FROM 1945 TO 1958. BY 1982, THE BUILDING HAD BECOME VACANT.
