Additional Information:ARCHITECTURAL STATEMENT: THIS TWO STORY FRAME (NOW SIDED) COMMERICAL STRUCTRUE WITH SLOPING ROOF AND A FALSE STORE FRONT HAS RETAINED ONLY THE BRACKED CORNICE AND SIMPLE WINDOW CORNICES OF THE ORIGINAL BUILDING. HISTORICAL STATEMENT: THIS BUILDING ORIGINALLY KNOWN AS THE H. H. FIEDLER HARDWARE STORE IS HISTORICALLY ASSOCIATED WITH THE COMMERICAL DEVELOPMENT OF CUBA CITY. H. H. FIEDLER WAS A GERMAN IMMIGRANT WHO CAME TO CUBA CITY IN THE LATE 19TH CENTURY. HE OPENED A HARDWARE STORE IN THIS BUILDING IN 1895. LINCOLN HUNSELL HAD HIS HARNESS SHOP IN THIS BUILDING AFTER THE TURN OF THE CENTURY. IN THE EARLY PART OF THE CENTURY, PETER RICHARDS RAN A TAVERN HERE FOR A SHORT TIME. IT HAS SINCE BEEN A TAVERN FOR THE MAJOR PART OF ITS EXISTANCE.
