NOTES
Additional Information:
Bibliographic References:Deeds indicate the property was purchased by Lorenzo Tatro from John Hess in 1883. A 6 October 1883 newspaper citation indicates that Tatro intended on erecting a building on the lot. Construction of the building was anticipated for the following spring. As of 13 December 1884, a drug store was to open in the building--operated by J.M. Ingraham and with E.E. Litton as druggist. Tatro was a barber and he also had bathing rooms in the building, which were completed in January 1886 (23 January 1886). In 1887 (deeds) he sold the building to Otto G. Anderson and moved to Ashland. The 1885 Sanborn maps confirm that the building was a drug store and a barber shop. Despite the 1883 datestone (which is not original), the building was erected in 1884. The Statz name is also a more recent addition.
