Bibliographic References:Date of construction from assessor's records. Deeds indicate that the property was purchased by Elmer Newsom in 1884. Although assumed to be Newsom's house, the 1900 census enumerates him as living on 3rd Street. Newsom was the head of the land department for Knapp, Stout & Co., a job he held since 1882. Obituary, The Dunn County News, 7 December 1900, 5/4-5.
