Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. One of a few remaining hotels of its vintage in downtown Milwaukee; also part of a body of work by the well known Chicago architectural firm of Holabird and Roche. An unusual composition of patterned brickwork with terra cotta mouldings, topped with a tiled cross-gable at the northwest corner. The building permit records contain "a typical floor plan of the Hotel Wisconsin" signed by Holabird and Roche. Julius Hauboldt was the masonry contractor. |
