Additional Information: | A park shelter. Unfortunately, the fine cobblestone fireplace next to the shelter is gone. According to Barland, the Rod and Gun Club worked for laws regulating game and fishing and planted fish in streams. They operated from a club house at 235 Water Street for over 15 years and in 1929 bought property on the west bank of Half Moon Lake to make a 40 acre park. They made trout ponds and had a bathing beach and diving tower. Today, the Rod and Gun Club Park is without a beach, but the area is beautifully lush and features a meandering stream and the remains of the trout ponds.
