NOTES
Additional Information:This brick and stucco residence provides an example of a French Country House - a revival form popular in the early decades of the twentieth century. A steep roofline broken by dormers and a touch of half timbering provide the medieval ingredients. The foundation is made up of concrete and the roof is covered in tiles. This two story dwelling is in excellent condition.

(1981 photo 28/15, 28/16). Phillips moved to Eau Claire in 1918 and opened a branch of the Ed Phillips and Sons Co., which was a distributorship of newspapers, magazines, tobacco products, candies, and liquor. In 1941, he founded L.E. Phillips Charities. This organization funded many health and educational organizations in the community. In 1942, he founded National Presto Industries.

2016- "A massive high-pitched roof of slate caps this two-story residence, which is the only example of this style in Eau Claire. Decorative elements include dentils, lintels, a recessed main entry, diamond pane windows and an oriel window above the entrance door.
