Additional Information: | According to the 1875 Map of Eau Claire by the Phoenix Map Co. (Milwaukee, WI), Marston Ave. was then named Rowland. On the map it notes the properties of S. Marston (also note the Marston Block named on the map) and that of G.C Teall. (map found on wisconsinhistory.org) The following excerpt is from, The Weekly Free Press, City of Eau Claire and the Chippewa Valley, Monday, April 9 1886: "Mr. John Abercrombie is erecting a new residence on Rowland Street between Judge Teall's and Stephen Marston's and will probably occupy it with his family about June 1." According to the Directories of the City of Eau Claire from 1887-1923, the Abercrombies lived at 109 Marston Street during that time range. The 1926 city directory lists the property as vacant and by 1929 a new family is living there. The directories are online at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Library in Eau Claire, WI. A two story clapboard residence capped by a low gable roof and featuring paired bays, a small shed roofed dormer, and center entrance flanked by sidelights. |
