Additional Information: | First surveyed in 1973, this residence has been completely altered. Aluminum siding was added in 1974 and in the process the unique qualities and details of the original Stick Style dwelling were lost. A historical photo of the building is available at the Chippewa Valley Museum. George W. Smith was first listed at this address in 1882. Mr. Smith was engaged with his brothers, Arthur and Albert, in the George W. SMith a& Bros. Company, which specialized in china, crockery, glassware, and gas fixtures. The business was located at 312 S. Barstow Street. In 1908 Smith was described as secretary-treasurer of the American Heating and Ventilating Company (B). |
