Additional Information: | A simple one and a half story clapboard and shingle residence. Originally a gable ornament and an ornate veranda provided decorative detailing. (See photo in collection of Chippewa Valley Museum.). John Huebsch, secretary-treasurer of the Huebsch Laundry Company located on N. Dewey Street (101 N. Dewey Street, 4L/37) is first listed at this address in 1902 (B). (Actually the address at that time was 317 Earl Street). He arrived in Eau Claire in 1892 and with his brother Joseph, established the City Steam Laundry which later became the Huebsch Laundry Company and today the Huebsch Linen and Industrial Service. Huebsch was a member of the first city council elected under the commission form of government (C). |
