Additional Information: | A two story clapboard residence which is only one room wide. A veranda with spindle valance and turned posts provides both a decorative and functional element. Small homes such as this are often termed mechanic's cottages. These "cottages," the forerunner of the bungalow, were designed to house working class families. Standardized plans and parts were used, and ornament was usually confined to gable and veranda areas - such as seen in this particular example. |
