Additional Information: | From "Appleton's Historic Old Third Ward Walking Tour" pamphlet, revised 2014 (www.focol.org/oldthirdward): "Built in 1890, the residence of George and Mary Wlater. This home survives as a reminder of this industrious family. Walter emigrated to Milwaukee from Germany in 1873 and found work at the Pabst Brewing Co. By 1876 he was foreman of Appleton's Wing and Fries Brewery, purchasing half interest in the company four years later. As sole owner in 1885, he first renamed his business the Star Brewery. In time, all the Walter siblings reunited in America." Garage. |
