Additional Information: | This structure contributes to the significance of the East South Street-Brokaw Place Historic District under Criterion C as a good example of a late shingle style cottage notable for its interesting and picturesque roofline. This house illustrates the continuing popularity of the shingle style into the early years of this century as homeowners pursued simpler, more 'homey' house types. In spite of the unfortunate loss of its original front porch, this house still retains sufficient integrity to contribute to the historic district. Garage also on property. Not entered in 1925 directory, but listed in 1928 directory - Will G. Commentz, President of Fraser-Commentz Coal Co. |
