Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. Additional map codes are: 9/4. A two-story, shed-roofed, brick, Queen Anne style structure with an unsympathetic 1960's modern metal panel and plateglass storefront at the first story level. The upper facade has been little altered and features a paired central window unit flanked by single one over one windows. The flat headed windows are set under brick segmental arches with projecting toothed brick. The attic story hood moulds and cornice are richly corbelled and ornamented with projecting brick work set in abstract geometric patterns. The parapet rises to a central gable over the two small, rectangular attic frieze windows. From 1900 through 1921, this building housed a saloon and residence for number of owners. In 1922, the owner switched to soft drinks but by 1932, it was vacant. From 1934 through the 1980's the building housed a series of retail shops and restaurants with the exception of the years 1960-1979 and 1989 when it was a bank. 2024: Resurveyed. Not contributing to College Avenue Historic District. |
