NOTES
Additional Information:Related building: OU 34/24. Additional map codes are: 8/32. This is a two-story, flat-roofed, painted brick Italianate style building. The two storefronts flanking the central door to the second story are covered in vertical boarding with plate glass windows set in brick and tile surrounds, above the unsympathetically altered storefront and sign zone, the upper facade consists of seven bays of evenly spaced arched windows with projecting brick hood molds. All of the original sash have been obscured with small modern metal sash windows surmounted by metal infill panels. The facade is ornamented with brick quoins and a patterned brick frieze at the eaves. The original cornice has been removed and replaced with a plain red brick parapet. This structure contributes to the significance of the College Avenue Historic District as a representative example of the Italianate commercial architecture of 1870's and early 1880's. In spite of unsympathetic modern alterations to the storefront and the loss of the original wood or metal cornice, the upper stories retain the brick quoining, hood molds, and elaborately corbelled cornice treatment characteristic of the commercial Italianate style. 2024: Resurveyed. Not contributing to College Avenue Historic District.
