Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. The building is listed as Peerless National Laundry in the 1925 directory and was still a cleaners in 1991. A one story, flat roofed, brick, retail structure of early twentieth century commercial style design with a terra-cotta cornice and a plate glass and aluminum storefront. This structure contributes to the significance of the College Avenue Historic District as a modest example of an early twentieth century commercial style building. This small, straight forward example of functional detail design retains a high degree of integrity, although the original full length storefront glazing has been replaced with wood infill panels at the bottom. 2024: Resurveyed, not contributing to College Avenue Historic District. |
