Additional Information: | This structure contributes to the significance of the East College Avenue Residential Historic District under Criterion c as a pivotal example of a large, architect-designed, frame Queen Anne mansion displaying great integrity of forum, interesting and massing and a unique porch of highly original design. This house illustrates the transformation of East College Avenue from a typical middleclass street of cottages to a showplace residential precinct of pretentious residences. Additional map codes are: 9/33. Two garages also. 2005-This house was last surveyed in 1991 and no visible exterior changes have been made since that time. According to the 1977 survey card, and verified by a 1897-98 city directory, this house was originally owned by Arthur J. Ingold, proprietor of The Fair, a Dry Goods and Furnishings store. The 1895 Sanborn map indicates the house as "Being Built." |
