Additional Information: | This structure contributes to the significance of the East College Avenue Residential Historic District under Criterion C as a good example of modest vernacular village house of the 1870's or early 1880's that was remodeled and enlarged at various times to bring it up to the standards of its increasingly fashionable neighborhood. Garage also on property. 2005-this house was last surveyed in 1991 and no visible exterior changes have been made since that time. Assessor's records note a 1900 date of construction; however, the house (minus the two-story porch to the west) appears on the 1886 Sanborn map. west The porch was added between 1924 and 1932. The earliest known owner/occupant of the house was William J. Furstenberg, a traveling agent for George Wolf & Co./Appleton Marble & Granite Works. |
