Additional Information: | This structure contributes to the significance of the Appleton City Park Historic District under Criterion C as a curious example of a Queen Anne style house brought up to date in the early 1900's in the newly fashionable craftsman style. The transformation of this older house in the craftsman style by the addition of stucco cladding, exposed rafter tails at the eaves and a massive arcaded porch incorporating a remarkable two-level sleeping porch tower ilustrates the continued development of city park in the early 1900's as a desirable residential area where fashion conscious homeowners sought to update their houses in the popular architectual styles of the period. The garage was probably added at the same time the house was remodelled. |
