| Additional Information: | Multiple hipn roofed dormers; modillions under eaves; rectangular windows; pedimented gable roofed enclsoed one bay entrance porch with cross on ridge. Important as an example of convent architecture and important as an element in the Notre Dame Complex, the Notre Dame Convent, influenced by the Georgian Revival style often found in institutional buildings in the early 20th century, was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on April 4, 1983 as part of a Notre Dame Muleitple Nomination. Constructed in 1915, this building replaced an earlier convent. (A) A new roof was added to the convent in 1954. (B) The convent hsa an entrance directly into the Goldsmith Memorial Chapel where Rev. C.F.X. Goldsmith is buried in a crypt beneath the alter. This Convent is part of the historic Notre Dame complex which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in April of 1983. #650: Notre Dame Church (20-6) Rectory (20-7) Chpael (20-12) Grade School (20-5) High School (18-37). |
