Additional Information: | Projecting cornice of moulded brick with decorative rows of dentil trim extending around the two exposed elevations; recessed facade bordered by blind arches at the top and by capped brick piers extending the full length of the facades through the cornhice to the pawrapet. Elaborately articulated round arched window hoods with large decorativge keystone and corbeled ends over long narrow windows; secondary cornice the store front; store fronts have been altered for contemporary commercial use. Having retained much of its original character, the F. Doerre Building known to have housed clothing, jewelry, and shoe stores at avarious times in the 19th century is an unusual brick interpretation fo a commercial structure influenced by the Romanesqua Revival and Italianate Revival style. Under more investigation the structure could be a significant building. |
