Additional Information: | Original Gundersen Clinic building with classical features and contemporary addition. Brick quoins; fluted paired pilasters support freize with Gundersen Clinic inscribed; small projecting cornice and the parapet above the entablature. Beltcourses of contrasting white concrete and decorative brick patterns articulate the surface; the modern clinic structure was added around the original structure, allowing the original to remain as constructed. Through much alteration, rebuilding, and additions over the years, the architectural significance of the Gundersen Clinic is minimal. Only the small Neo-classical entrance remains of the earlier structure. Related buildings: Lutheran Hospital Nurses Home (1910 South Avenue); Lutheran Hospital (1910 South Avenue). |
