NOTES
Additional Information:Three round brick grain elevators with iron super structure and cement block outbuildings. Constructed in 1880 according to the Sanborn Map and in 1904 according to other sources, these brick elevators are a significant example of elevator construction-before reinforced concrete became the method of choice.

W.W. Cargill settled in La Crosse in 1875. He became involved in the grain business. In 1880 Cargill constructed a large grain elevator in La Crosse which burned in 1904. The building noted here replaced the 1880 elevator. Cargill became nationally important as a grain company. The corporation is still operating.

Kansas City Milling transferred the old Listman Mill property to the Cargill Co. in 1940.

Constructed by Foster Construction Company of Milwaukee.
