Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the State Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. Re-surveyed in 2006, appearance unchanged. Associated structures include a shelter, bathhouse, office, trails, bridges, fences, walls and natural features. 2022: The pedestrian tunnel was completed by the CCC in 1940. The tunnel entrances are semicircular archways constructed of cut stone with concrete copings topped with metal railings. Large openings lead to the concrete tunnel that runs underneath STH 35. Above the openings, the arches have keystones. On the east side of the highway, the archway is flanked by sets of five concrete steps. A central set of concrete stairs leads to the entrance. The tunnel has a concrete foundation. |
