Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. Replaced by a parking lot. First floor display windows altered and modern metal siding frmes them and covers the original transoms. The original tall segmental arched second floor windows on the main facade have been partially filled with brick at a later date, and have later 6/6 lite windows filling the remainder. The windows have concrete sills and double header course brick heads. A fine corbelled brick parapet surmounds the facade and there is a name plate in the center of cut stone which reads 1873. Smith Bros. 1888. Historical Background The Smith Brothers block was built by John Smith, a leader in the agricultural community, and discussed in the Agriculture Chapter of the survey report.
