It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the State Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. Corbelled projecting brick cornice with brackets under the overhang and visually supported by full length capped applied pilasters that continue through the rusticated lower story; applied brick pilasters divide the side elevations; segmental arched windows with multi paned sash, rectangular eloevator shaft extends above roof line at rear. Retaining the best architectural integrity of the remaining Plow Co. structures, this structure is a significant representative of industrial construction influenced by the fashionalbe Neo-classic Revival at the turn of the century. The La Crosse Plow Works was one fo the most important manufacturing enterprises in La Crosse history. Albert Hirschheimer bought the Bantom and Barcly blacksmith operations in 1863 and established the La Crosse Plow Works. Between 1863 and 1925, the La Crosse Plow Works produced large numbers of agricultural implements which were distributed in the exapnding communities of southern Minnesota and the Dakotas.
