E), THIS ONE-STORY FRONT GABLED CHURCH FEATURES A RECTANGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, AN IRREGULAR SHAPED STONE FOUNDATION, AN UNSPECIFIED STONE EXTERIOR, A STONE TRIM AND AN ASPHALT SHINGLED GABLE ROOF. WOODEN SASH WINDOWS HAVE MUTINS DEFINING THE TWELVE-OVER-TWELVE PANES. THE INTERIOR SEEMS TO BE ANTIQUE. THE STRUCTURE, WHICH IS IN GOOD CONDITION, IS LOCATED ON THE PROPERTY OF THE ST. PAUL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH AT 414 RIDGE STREET. (SEE MAP CODE 32/16). KNOWN HISTORICALLY AS THE ST. PAUL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH AND SCHOOL, AND AS THE ST. PAUL'S MISSION CHURCH, THIS BUILDING WAS ASSOCIATED WITH RELIGIOUS SERVICES IN 1842, AND WITH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FROM 1842 TO 1915. (SEE BIB. REF. E, G). ITS LIFE SOLEY AS A CHURCH - ITS ORIGINAL PURPOSE - WAS SHORT LIVED. THE STRUCTURE HAD BEEN BUILT IN 1842 AS A MISSION FOR A CONGREGATION FORMED IN 1838. The congregation was made up of largely Irish immigrants. [L]
