Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. In the 1970s, the summer kitchen was attached to the house and the kitchen modernized. The home was also shingled and the original built-in gutters were covered up. In 1998, the attic was finished and a spiral staircase and doorway were added from the north attic dormer. 2017 WisDOT survey - This Queen Anne-style house is located on a large lot at the northwest corner of 13th Street East and 10th Avenue East. The house sits on a tree-lined bluff above the road. A concrete run of stairs extends from the street side to form a path to the front porch. The two two-and-one-half-story house has an irregular footprint. The structure rests on a stone foundation and the exterior walls are clad in clapboard siding. The hipped roof has multiple cross gables and is sheathed in asphalt shingles. A one-story open porch wraps the façade and north elevation. The porch has a low balustrade and paired colonettes support the shed roof. A gabled balcony with a spindle frieze is on the second story of the north elevation. The primary entrance is within the porch. The majority of windows are one-over-one units that appear to be replacements, but fit their historic size and openings. Additional building features include a one-story half-hipped historic period addition on the northwest corner, and a modern three-story exterior spiral staircase on the north elevation. |
