The congregation was organized at a meeting at Edward Liederbach's Meat Market at 4708 West Center Street. The first service was held in Liederbach's bungalow at North 46th and Chambers Streets. Pastor Nels Fedderson celebrated the first service on June 8, 1924, with was Whitsunday or Pentecost, hence the name of the church. In 1926 the chapel/bungalow was moved to the present site of the church at 5226 West Burleigh. Groundbreaking for the new church took place in March 1928. the church, designed by architect Hugo Haeuser, is a contemporary Gothic inspired colonial church of Lannon stone with red tile roof. In 1930 Rev. Amos Streich began his thirty-seven years of service to the church. In 1946, the mortgage was burned, followed by the church's planned addition by Hugo Logemann, completed in 1952."""
