Additional Information: THIS DISTINGUISHED, TWO-STORY, NEOCLASSICAL BUILDING FEATURING A PLAIN ENTABLATURE AND PILASTERS SEPARATING THE MAIN ENTRANCES. OTHER ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS INCLUDE A RECTANGULAR PLAN CONFIGURATION, A FLAT ROOF, A CREAM BRICK EXTERIOR AND A RAISED BASEMENT WITH A CONCRETE SURFACE OVER THE FOUNDATION. PIERS AT THE ENTRANCE AND TRIPLED CASEMENT WINDOWS ARE ALSO PRESENT ON THE BUILDING. THE 1928 STRUCTURE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. (SEE BIB. REF. C). HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: THE DODGEVILLE MASONIC LODGE WAS ORGANIZED IN 1859; THE FIRST MEETING WAS HELD AUGUST 27TH OF THAT YEAR UNDER A DISPENSATION OF THE GRAND LODGE. (SEE BIB. REF. B). A NUMBER OF BUSINESS BLOCKS ACCOMODATED THE LODGE'S MEETINGS - THE CHARLES HARRIS BUILDING (NO LONGER STANDING) (1859-1860), WILLIAM TODD'S STORE (142 S. IOWA ST.) (1860-1864), WHICH IT SHARED WITH THE GOOD TEMPLARS, THE JEARDEAU BUILDING (NO LONGER STANDING) (1864-1867), ARUNDEL'S HALL (NO LONGER STANDING) (1867-1900), THE HOCKING BUILDING (NO LONGER STANDING) (1900-1930), AND FINALLY THIS BRICK NEOCLASSICAL BUILDING, IN WHICH THE FIRST MEETING WAS HELD ON FEBRUARY 7, 1983. (SEE BIB.REF. A).
