Additional Information: | An early bungalow styled house, this frame one and a half story house on an elevated stone foundation has a long sloping roof that extends over an open porch supported by flared short posts. A wall chimney, purlins under the eaves, and exposed rafter ends accenting the roofs of the porch, dormer, and bay window are typical features of the bungalow style. One of the more elaborate turn of the century bungalows in La Crosse, the Lautz house constructed c. 1919 is important as a representative of La Crosse's movement toward a modern architecture that co-existed with the historic styles of the period. 2017 UPDATE - HOUSE APPEARS SUBSTANTIALLY THE SAME AS WHEN IT WAS LAST SURVEYED IN 1996. |
