Additional Information: | This is a large, two and one half story, multi-gabled and hip-roofed, clapboard and shingle house. The most distinguished feature is the splendid porch that girds the front and side of the house with its paired collumnettes and paneled pedestals, arcaded brick skirting, original balustrades and bracketed eaves. The shingled second story features a shallow loggia and bay window surmounted by a massive jettied shingled gable with a recessed triple window ornamented with a column screen and a deep board entablature. Garage. This structure contributes to the significance of the Appleton City Park Historic District under Criterion C as a fine example of a shingle style influenced late Victorian house that has been preserved intact. This well-conserved house has many notable features including the unusually elegant wrap-around veranda. |
