Additional Information: | This one and one half story front gabled house features a rectangular shaped plan configuration, a brick exterior, a brick and wood trim and an asphalt shingled gable roof. The upper story of the street facing open gable end is distinguished by a window, set within a segmental arch. On the first story, window openings which flanked the cnetered front entrance have been boarded over, yet the flat lintel and the projecting sills are still visible. Frieze boards and an addition are other architectural elements found on the structure. The 1860 retail building is in fair condition. (See Bib. Ref. A). Architectural/Engineering Significance: This property meets cirteria C of the National Register requirements because the property retains the character of its form or style. This style was important in the development of West Bend. This property is a good example of this style. |
