Additional Information: | This two story cross gabled house features a rectangular shaped plan configuration, a stucco foundation, an asbestos sided exterior, a wood trim and an asphalt shingled multi-gable roof. A gabled wall dormer is centered on the facade. Directly beneath this dormer on the first story is the front entrance, which is sheltered by an awning supported by wrought iron posts. An addition was built, changing the former rectangular shaped plan. The c. 1850 residence is in fair condition. (See Bib. Ref. A). It is related to a garage, a building of which no description was given in the Intensive Survey Form. Architectural/Engineering Singificance: This property meets cirteria C of the National Register requirements because the property retains enough of the character that it had when the town of Barton was growing and developing. This building contributes to the whole character of the Barton Historic District. |
