Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 2025: The Montello dam is located across the Fox River, south of the lock, and measures approximately 150 feet in length. The first Montello dam was constructed in 1868 with a series of subsequent repairs and improvements. The most substantial of these occurred in 2013 when the embankment and spillway were reconstructed and a four-step fish ladder was installed at the dam’s northern end. As such, the existing structure primarily dates to 2013.
