Additional Information: | HABS WI-333. SEE AHI RECORD 0028086. 1992- "An early photo and Sanborn-Perris maps show that this two-story rectilinear plan 20-footwide by 50-foot-deep coromerclal vernacular form building 11as walls made of brick and that the east-facing main facade originally had a full-width first story storefront that featured a centered entrance flanked by four-light display windows. The same photo shows that the second story was clad in brick, had a simple overhanging cornice, and was two-bays-wide with each bay containing a segmentally arched window opening that was filled with a flat-arched six-over-six light double hung window. Nothing of this facade is now visible. The first story has been entirely covered over with vertical wooden boards except tor two new flat-arched entrance door openings that have been placed at the left (south) end of the facade (the left-hand entrance leads up to the second story while the right-hand one opens into the tirst story). The second story is now covered over with horizontal metal clapboard siding, as is a polygonal oriel window that has been placed to the right of center in the approximate location where the original right-hand window would have been. Each of the three faces of this oriel has a small one-over-one light double hung window, but the story is otherwise featureless The alterations make this building a non-contributing resource within the district." - Prepared by Timothy F Heggland (1992). |
