NOTES
Additional Information:Very little can be said about this building and property's history other than it was built in 1944 for unknown purposes. Because little historical data is currently associated with this building and because of the property's recent construction, it does not meet the criteria for historical significance and does not fall into the exception criteria for purposes constructed during the 50 year non-historic period. This small one-story commercial verancular building displays a simple beige brick facade and no ornament. A metal and glass storefront comprised of brick aprons, a full length glass transom window across the top and a recessed entrance with a transom window over the door is located on the lower story. Well-preserved, this small retail building was built in 1944 for John Marquardt. This small brick building replaced a previous building on the site owned by J.F. Nicol. The Marquardt Building does not meet the criteria of the NRHP for architectural significance becuase it is less than 50 years old. As a result, this building does not contribute to the historic character of the proposed Water Street Commercial Historic District.
