Additional Information: | SQUARE CUT LOGS. Was moved from its original site to its present location in 1974 to save it from a condominium development. The house was originally built on Eagle Island (Horsehoe) and skidded over the ice in 1867 to the peninsula and was located near STH 42 until 1973. The Free Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized in this house in 1882. Thomas Goodletson was a Norwegian farmer (b. 1816) who emigrated to the U.S. in 1853 and arrived in the Town of Gibraltar around 1857. This house stayed in the Goodletson family until 1904. It was then used as a farm building by the Zachariason and Woodruff families (c. 1925) and as a cottage for the Ephraim Hotel. |
