Additional Information: | 1990: This house is one of four red brick dwellings clustered around the NE corner of Fremont and Maple Streets. Exhibiting subdued Queen Anne chararcteristics, it features a two-story front gable with windows on the first and second floors set in recessed panels with arched and corbeled brick. These features are nearly identical to those of the John Reed House at 129 S. Sixth Street (PI 20/8), and suggest the same architect/builder may have designed or constructed both residences. The south wall of the house has a full-height bay window with a brick arch on the southwest corner. Windows are double-hung 1/1 sash with segmental arches. A brick chimney extends from the combination hip and gable roof, which is covered with asphalt shingles. |

River Falls Journal, 3 June 1900; "Ole Olson of Battle Lake, Minnesota buys the brick house erected by GT Smith."
