Additional Information: | HRL 2024: The former school is situated on the west side of Immel Road, from which it set back by about fifty-feet and faces east. It is partially shielded from traffic by two mature pine trees set about twenty-five feet west of the road. The structure rises from a rusticated concrete block foundation, is sheltered by a multi-plane hipped roof and is largely sheathed with light gray-colored, aluminum drop-siding where the original siding was clapboard. Additionally do vertical boards highlight all of the building’s corners while several original windows have been infilled and covered and new widows have been added. The original block of the school was symmetrical and notable for its centered entryway in the east sidewall sheltered by a nominal porch. Two, prominent, hipped roof dormers are on the roof’s east and north sides. A pair of three, vertical-pane windows were originally found to the right (north) and left (south) of the doorway. They have been infilled and covered by today’s drop siding while a new, three-pane, projecting window has been added immediately to the left (south) of the doorway and the modern porch that has replaced the original appendage. The siding today that is inconsistent with the drop siding on the rest of the structure is that to either side of the centered entryway. It is vertically-oriented and of a color that stands out from the light gray found on the rest of the building. The school was expanded at some point with an addition to the south. The addition’s east and west sides are nominally inset from the original block, the south side of which has a hipped roof dormer similar to the dormers on the original block’s east and north sides. Added to the south endwall of the building is a modern, one-car, gabled garage, as was a one-story, gabled addition built on to, and projects west from, the structure’s historic west wall. |
