Additional Information: | This historic farmstead is set at the south corner of CR E and Beryl Drive and consists of a house, narrow gabled barn, and pole barn garage.
This 2-story Georgian style Gabled Ell house is clad in vinyl lap siding and has wide overhanging eaves. An enclosed sun porch is set along the side-gable bay, beyond which the front door is set. The southern elevation is comprised by a full-height three-sided bay wall. The front-gable end wall is fenestrated with a large picture window on the main floor, two sash windows on the second floor, and a small round window in the gable-end. The roof has asphalt shingles; views of the foundation are obscured. The house exhibits elements of a late nineteenth century residence in a restrained ornamentation that is typical for the local area.
In the 1899 county plat book, this 127.5-acre parcel was owned and homesteaded by Fred H. Niere. The 153.9-acre parcel was owned by Stuart Niere in 1919. Members of the Niere family owned several other parcels in the area during this period. This farmstead is present in the 1937 aerial photo, including the house, barn, and machine shed. It appears the buildings retain their original footprints. At least one small outbuilding in the woods along the southwest side of the property are evident but not discernible in photographs.
