NOTES
Additional Information:The Police Shooting Range Building stands at the southeast corner of the shooting range, which is located outside the northwest corner of the north loop of the Drive. The shooting range was established in 1966 for the New London Police Department. It consists of a rectangular area enclosed in an earthen berm about eight feet high along the north, south and west sides. The north and south sides are approximately 165 feet long, while the west side measures about 100 feet. The Police Shooting Range Building is astylistic. It dates to ca. 1967 and measures about 15 feet square. A metal overhead door is found on the front (west) façade. There are no openings on the north or south facades. A narrow door is located at the north end on the east façade. The Police Department practiced at the shooting range, hosted sharpshooting competitions, and offered workshops to the public for many years. In 1987, it was named the Jack V. Algiers Shooting Range in honor of a retiring police officer. The shooting range is no longer available for public use.
