Additional Information: | 2023: This one and one-half story single-family residence is a one-story cube vernacular form constructed circa 1900. The house stands at the southeast corner of 10th Avenue and S. Hudson Street with its principal elevation facing north toward 10th Avenue. It is square in plan with a hip or pyramidal roof that features moderately overhanging eaves. The foundation is uncoursed fieldstone. The original exterior cladding has been covered or replaced with aluminum siding. The roof is covered with asphalt shingle, and the eaves are closed with aluminum soffit and fascia. The principal (north) elevation features a full-width open-air shed roof porch that is supported on turned posts with a spandrel balustrade. The porch floor has been reconstructed with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) decking. The primary entrance is centered in the principal elevation below the porch; a non-original single-lite fixed sash window is evenly spaced to the west. Based on the house type and period, the principal elevation was originally symmetrical in plan; however, the window opening east of the entrance has been removed and closed. A gabled-wall dormer is centered above the porch. The windows throughout are replacements that are generally dissimilar from the original windows in material, design, and functionality. These include the single-lite fixed sash window, one-by-one casement windows, and one-over-one hung sash windows. A two-bay detached garage is behind (south) the house. |
