Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property under the name "John & Christina Elverman Farmstead." It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Additional Comments 2023: The barn is a long bank/dairy barn. One half of the barn has a fieldstone foundation while the other half has a raised concrete block foundation with glass-block windows that dates to 1981 according to the form. The block foundation extends beyond the barn wall to form a one-story room. An historic aerial photograph shows that this part of the barn originally had a foundation covered with wood siding. The milk house projects from a side wall. It is one-story in height, constructed of concrete blocks (probably older than the foundation) and has a wooden door and some metal board and batten siding. The entire barn is covered with metal board and batten siding and standing seam metal roofing, both added in 2013. The old barn dates to c.1900. (Carol Cartwright, 2023) |
