Additional Information: | This 2-story Contemporary hotel building was constructed in 1963 as Guest House Inn and Marc’s Big Boy Restaurant (aka Marc’s Coffee Shop). It is L-shaped in plan with an office mass at the south end of the building (the first floor of which historically served as the restaurant space and cocktail lounge) and a long mass containing individual hotel rooms extending from the rear (north) elevation of this. The building is clad in stucco, brick, and stone veneer and features a flat roof with metal-clad eave overhang. The office mass faces south and is asymmetrical in composition with a stone veneered center bay containing a metal-framed pair of glass doors; this is sheltered by a metal-clad pent roof. Window banks extend along both sides of this bay. The second story of the office mass contains a row of single-pane windows across the façade; every third window contains a built-in air conditioning unit in its lower half. A flat-roofed canopy extends from the west corner of the front elevation to create a sheltered drive-through space. The first and second stories of the northern building mass contain regularly-spaced banks of Chicago style windows. The first story of this mass is clad in brick while the second story is clad in stucco; a band of clapboard siding is located along the length of the mass between the two stories. |
