Additional Information: | The Bay Motel was constructed by Joseph Loch, the owner, in three phases from 1956 to 1961 in response to the widening of the state highway that would become Military Avenue. The first phase was limited to a small 18-guest room single-story motel. The second phase in 1958 included an additional 16 rooms and the final phase was a restaurant, known as the Bay Grill, completed in 1961 at one end of the motel. In 1966, the motel created a large courtyard with another 29 rooms that mirrored the original building. The motel was developed on the Loch family farmland along Military Avenue. The restaurant was renamed the Bay Family Restaurant and significantly expanded in 1973 with an upper floor and more dining space. The restaurant was remodeled in 1985 and both the motel rooms and restaurant were remodeled again in 1997. |
