Additional Information: | 2022/HRL: This one-and-one-half story structure is an intriguing, front gable bungalow that appears influenced by the Stick Style and is setback from the roadway to the east by about twenty-five feet. Its first floor is sheathed with stucco while the remaining walls are covered with clapboard framed by corner boards. Defining characteristics include its exposed rafter ends, brackets and cross gable dormers. Additionally are most windows on the house, four-over-one-light, double-hung sashes. The primary entrance is set in the east endwall and framed by about a three-quarter width, front porch with a railing constructed of porous and pocketed stones, likely from the nearby lakeshore. A small stone post rises from the north and southeast corners of the railing and support short, wooden post extensions that support the wooden entablature carrying the shallow, gabled roof that shelters the porch. The entryway is slightly offset to the right (north) to the right of which is a window. To the left (south) of the doorway are similar though paired windows. Paired, one-over-one-light windows are centered in the second floor, immediately above the porch roof. A modest bay with squared corners projects nominally from the east side of the south sidewall. It is sheltered by a pent roof and claims paired windows. A single window is farther to the left (west). One window appears to be located in the west sidewall. Each of the dormers also has a window pair. A shed roof addition extends to the west from the back of the house, beyond which was a deck constructed. |
