Additional Information: | 2022/HRL: This one-and-one-half story, cross gable, clapboard-sheathed house is located on the northeast side of STH 42 which it faces and from which it is setback about fifteen feet. It is thought to date to the circa 1900 era. Rising from what is likely a stone foundation obscured by tarps, bushes and other vegetation, the house’s primary entrance is situated in the south-facing ell. It is accessed by four steps and sheltered by an open porch with a rounded corner highlighted by three Tuscan columns and a dentilled cornice. Up the steps and then extending from column to column is a spindled railing. The porch has a gently-pitched roof. To the left of the porch (northwest) is a southwest-facing, gabled wing. It has a large, single-pane picture window with an ornamental transom, above which are two, double-hung-sashes in the gable peak. That peak, as well as that to the southeast, is notable for its roof returns, collar brace and pendant. Additionally does the projecting gable to the southeast have canted corners, all with a centered, double-hung sash. A single window is located in the gable peak. Beyond the gable that projects to the southeast is an additional entryway sheltered by a likely porch with a very shallow, gabled roof. The northwest side of the house primarily has symmetrically placed, double-hung windows. Behind the house, to the northeast, is a gabled-roof garage. |
