NOTES
Additional Information:2021 - In 2009, a new entrance hall and community space was constructed west of the church. The building contains an entrance hall with a wall of windows on the south side and a large open gathering room through double-doors to the north. Exterior cladding includes a cream brick veneer alternating with vinyl siding, and a covered entrance awning supported by stained wooden beams. The southern window wall consists of multi-sized sashes within aluminum frames, separated by partial-height brick pilasters. A wide overhanging eave above is supported by wooden beams. The addition is connected to the church via a glass-walled hyphen. The doorway to the church is located within an opening formerly containing one of the church’s stained-glass windows, which was preserved and is currently on display in the entrance hall. In 2020, a two-story addition was constructed north of the 2009 addition. This rectangular building contains single-paned windows arranged randomly across the east and west facades, with boxed bump-outs also occurring seemingly randomly. The interior contains gathering space and administrative offices for the church and school community. The construction of this addition in 2020 resulted in the demolition of a 1915 parsonage and teachers’ house on this portion of the property. This addition is one of several associated with the German Evangelical St. John Church of Greenfield (AHI 117453)
